FITNESS

Fitness is important for your business survival. I am not speaking solely of physical fitness but also mental and emotional. There will be times when things are tough and hard decisions will have to be made. There may well be times that you’ll think about quitting and going back to work for someone else. The decisions made during these times will have much to do with your fitness. This kind of fitness goes beyond exercise. It involves healthy living and a positive attitude.

Healthy living requires good eating habits. When you are self-employed you will tend to eat out a lot. It’s important to be very selective and stay away from the fast food places with all their high fat content. Avoiding junk food all together is a good start. First thing in the morning have a good breakfast instead of two donuts and some coffee. Not only will this help to keep your weight down, it will help to keep you healthy.

Avoid cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, they are the nemesis of good health. Addiction to alcohol and/or drugs reduces stamina, clarity of mind and your chances of success in any one-person business.

Stress is detrimental to your health. Meditation can help you to reduce your stress level even when things are not going well. Try meditating once a day for just 20 minutes. This will definitely reduce your stress level and help you to see things more clearly. It doesn’t matter what method of meditation you use. The objective is simply to quiet the mind which is usually chattering consistently with all kinds of useless information. At first it will seem that the meditation is doing no good because your mind is still running at full speed. That will change in time. Don’t worry about it, just keep up the meditations every day and soon you will notice the difference.

Bill's How-To eStore

Putting in the many hours required to get a one-person business going can be very tiring. It requires a lot of stamina and you need to be in reasonably good shape. While going to a gym is good, it isn’t necessary to maintain physical fitness.  A good walk every day before going to work or after work will help a great deal. Exercise not only contributes to physical fitness but also helps you mentally. You will be refreshing your body and your mind and this will help you remain alert and open to new ideas.

Then feed this alertness and openness with books, magazines, journals and other publications on your own and related fields. Keep yourself in a learning mode at all times and your work will continually improve and become easier and more profitable.
